A new space for contemporary art in Cleveland
The Transformer Station is owned and operated by the Fred and Laura Ruth Bidwell Foundation and in addition to its gallery spaces, it serves as offices for the Foundation.
To extend the impact of the Transformer Station in the community, the Bidwell Foundation has formed a unique agreement with the Cleveland Museum of Art to share the gallery calendar and programs. Fifty percent of the the gallery schedule will be developed by the Bidwell Foundation and most of the work shown will be based on photo-based art and artists who are in the Bidwell Projects Collection. The remaining half of the year's programming will be developed independently by the staff of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
The purpose of this partnership is to extend the range of art on view at the Transformer Station and provide the Cleveland Museum of Art with a West Side presence. The Cleveland Museum will use the Transformer Station as a project space to experiment and share the latest in contemporary art in all media.
As part of its long-term commitment to the arts and culture of the region, the Bidwell Foundation has promised the Transformer Station facility and property as a future gift to the Cleveland Museum of Art.
